Anyone can send you a list of places. We would rather tell you a story — twelve days of it, north to south, with every page already handled.
You land at Noi Bai and someone is already waiting at the jetbridge with your name. The city arrives gradually — motorbikes carrying improbable cargo, charcoal smoke, the first warm rain. By nine you're on a plastic stool over a bowl of phở, and the trip has properly begun.
Two days here, with a guide who grew up three streets from your hotel. Egg coffee. A temple older than most countries. Silk you didn't plan to buy.
East to the coast, where two thousand limestone towers stand in the sea. Your boat has twenty cabins; yours has a balcony. You kayak into a cave at golden hour, eat squid caught an hour earlier, and sleep on water so still it feels borrowed.
At sunrise: tai chi on deck — or more sleep. It's your story.
A short flight south and the story changes key. Hoi An is lantern-lit and absurdly photogenic; a tailor measures you on day one and delivers on day three. Between fittings — a cooking class in a garden, basket boats with someone's grandmother laughing at you, long afternoons on An Bang beach.
This is where trips slow down and groups knit together. Stay the extra day. Everyone does.
Ho Chi Minh City doesn't do quiet. Rooftop bars, history that rearranges you, and the best meal of the trip in a building older than the war. On the last full day, a private boat slips into the Mekong — floating markets, orchards, lunch with a river family.
Back in time for one final rooftop sunset. Somebody proposes a toast. Somebody always does.
That was one story, and a true one — we've told it many times. Yours will open differently. It might run three days or three weeks, detour to the dunes of Mui Ne, the pines of Da Lat, an island in the far south.
